A catch-all mailbox is one that collects all the email messages sent to inactive email addresses. For example, if your address is info@domain.com, but somebody mistypes it and sends an email message to inof@domain.com, it will still be received in the catch-all mailbox that you have created. Just one mailbox per domain can have this feature activated and in this way you’ll never miss messages because the other party has an obsolete email address or has made a spelling mistake. The disadvantage of having a catch-all mailbox is that you may start receiving plenty of spam email messages, but this issue can be rectified using an anti-spam protection solution. It is also essential to keep in mind that a mailbox with an enabled catch-all functionality cannot redirect inbound emails to a 3rd-party email address.
Catch-all Emails in Web Hosting
Setting up a catch-all e-mailbox will be incredibly easy if you’ve got a web hosting with our company. You can activate this option through our powerful, yet easy-to-use Email Manager tool, which is included in the Hepsia Control Panel, via which you will manage your shared web hosting account. You will find all the mailboxes that you’ve created listed alphabetically and on the right side of each one there will be a mini "Catch-all" icon, which will instantly show you whether a certain mailbox gets all the emails pertaining to a given domain or not. With one single mouse click on the icon you can activate or deactivate this option whenever you wish. In case there’s enabled email forwarding or in case some other mailbox has already been configured as a catch-all one for a given domain name, you will receive a warning notification from our system. The latter won’t replace/disable anything automatically or without your consent.
Catch-all Emails in Semi-dedicated Servers
You’ll be able to configure a catch-all address with no more than one click in case you have a semi-dedicated server with us and your emails are handled by our cloud web hosting platform. All the email addresses that you set up with any domain hosted in your semi-dedicated account will be displayed in the Hepsia hosting Control Panel’s Email Manager section. Each of them will have a small-size "Catch-all" icon next to it, so all it will take to activate the feature will be to click on that icon. In the exact same way you will be able to remove the feature, in case you don’t need it any longer. Our system will notify you if you are attempting to activate a 2nd catch-all email address for a given domain name or in case there’s activated email forwarding, but it will never disable or alter anything automatically or without your permission.
