If you have checked out loads of websites, you've probably stumbled upon some error message now and again. An error can take place in case the hosting server can't process a request (Error 400), if you must log in so that you can see some content and you haven't done so (Error 401), if you are not permitted to access some page (Error 403) or when a link leads to a file that is not on the hosting server (Error 404). Encountering this sort of messages could sometimes be irritating as the pages have absolutely nothing in common with the actual website. That’s why some web hosting service providers allow you to use your own error pages that'll match the style of your own website and that can have any content which you want - information why the error has appeared, a suggestion what you can do or even some witty comment. Such a function shall help you keep the visitor on the website no matter the error or the reason for it.
Custom Error Pages in Web Hosting
You'll be able to set up personalized error pages for all of your domains or subdomains. The function is supported by all web hosting plans that we provide, so once you log in to your Hepsia Control Panel and visit the Hosted Domains section, you can easily click on the Edit button for a domain/subdomain and in the pop-up that will be displayed, you may choose the kind of error page that should show up - a default one from our system, a typical Apache server page or a custom one. For the last mentioned alternative, you need to specify the URL to the page, so if you use customized pages, you need to upload the files in your website hosting account first. An alternative way is to use an .htaccess file located inside the domain or subdomain folder with a line for every error type. The actual syntax can be found in our Knowledge Base, so that you can use this feature even if you do not have any previous experience.
Custom Error Pages in Semi-dedicated Servers
All of the semi-dedicated servers that we provide support personalized error pages and it shall not take more than a few mouse clicks inside your Hepsia website hosting Control Panel to use this function. The option can be found in the Hosted Domains section of your Control Panel in which you will need to input the links to the custom-made files via simple drop-down menus and an intuitive interface. Of course, you must upload them inside your account before that. In case you don't want to use this function at some point, you will be able to disable it just as easily and choose an Apache server page or a default page from our system to be shown if your visitors encounter an error. If you'd prefer, you can also use an .htaccess file to activate the customized error pages. The file has to contain a particular line of code and a link for each error type and you can discover an example of the entire content for all four error types in our Help section.
